The ShoreTel solution has been built from the ground up with reliability in mind. ShoreGear voice switches are embedded devices with a real-time operating system delivering 99.999% reliability. The voice switches employ a unique call control architecture in which switches communicate with each other as peers and distribute call processing on the network. If a switch goes offline, its peers automatically pick up the call processing slack, ensuring uninterrupted service. Distributed call processing eliminates single-point failures – providing a level of reliability exceeding even traditional voice systems.

The ShoreTel system allows a voice network to be incrementally scaled to thousands of ports as capacity is needed. And since the voice switches behave as peers on the network, they deliver a single-system phone system that spans multiple sites, breaking down the barriers of communication.

Automatic Recovery

The ShoreTel system comes equipped with multiple failover features to ensure your callers always can make and receive calls even in the event of catastrophic events. With "Call Agent Failover", if a single ShoreGear voice switch fails, the IP phones associated with the switch automatically home into another voice switch for service. With "PSTN Failover", if a user makes a multi-site extension call and the WAN is down, the system automatically routes out the PSTN. With "Trunk Routing Failover", if a user makes an external call when the WAN is down, the system automatically routes the call out the most cost effective, available site. With "Power Transfer Failover", if a power outage exceeds the duration of the backup system, the ShoreGear voice switch will automatically connect an analog trunk to an analog telephone to ensure dial tone even during catastrophic events.

Extension Dialing, Least Cost Routing

In multi-site enterprises, employees at other sites are just a simple 3, 4 or 5 digit dial away. And when users make outbound calls, the system can leverage the wide area network between sites and ensure the call is routed out the most cost-effective site.

Office Hoteling with AnyPhone

The ShoreTel system allows users to assign their extension to any telephone on the network, even between locations, with the AnyPhone™ feature.

Integration with Legacy PBX Systems

Most multi-location enterprises migrate in a planned fashion from a patchwork of legacy phone systems to IP telephony. The ShoreTel solution provides a smooth migration path. The ShoreGear-T1 and ShoreGear-E1 can be used to "tie" into existing PBX systems, providing extension-to-extension dialing and least cost routing.

Enhanced 911 Services

The ShoreTel system supports the requirements for enhanced 911 services and does so in a completely integrated fashion without the need for costly, additional components.
